I don't know. MetaPOST is cool, no doubt. But it's
so much a typical Knuth language that it's hard to
learn and remember for someone who doesn't use it
daily. For most diagrams i do, i use the
Circuit Macros pakage [1] from D. Aplevich (a very
nice and helpfull guy, btw). It's only drawback
is that it needs m4 and thus some things are not
as straight forward as they should be.

metapost is nice, but there are simpler tools
for instance, there's this which we use at the uni for thesis papers
