I stumbled upon this page:

http://www.makezine.com/04/ownyourown/

and thought it could be of interest to others on this list.

There is an obvious affinity between free-software + open-hardware and
the "tinkering-freedom" (the term is mine) often expressed in Make
magazine's articles.

So, I had the following idea.

We could contact the Make magazine to see if they would be interested in
publishing an article about OGD1, as a (hopefully!) success story in the
devolpment of a complex, open, hardware device.

I do realize that OGD1 has a much higher complexity than the average
projects featured in the magazine, but perhaps it could be a sort of
special about fpgas and how they introduce the concept of
"hi-tech-tinkerig" (hey, no offense to our hdl heroes here).

That would not bring many new customers in the immediate time, but it
could be a good strategic move in terms of visibility and acceptance,
creating a binding between two communities (the larger lower-tech
tinkerers community and the smaller higher-tech tinkerers community)
with common interests.

What do you think?

ciao,
        Carlo
