And they are ready to spend $150 for that. Peter, say them 'your demand is
impractical' :-)
Then clearly someone should design a standard for VGA over a bundle of, say,
four optical fibres. And design it so that Joe Bloggs can install it without
breaking it. And make it affordable.
Such systems exist, they convert exactly the DVI's single link channels
(4x TMDS) into 4 fibres and back.
From the first link on google (dvi to fiber optics) the 100ft is "just"
for $800 (http://www.digitalconnection.com/Products/Cables/fiber_oc.asp)
