I'm thinking I'm going to take out the graphics cards (OGD1 and a Radeon), put them into their own special packaging and bring them in my pack pack. Same for the hard drive. Should I remove the CD drive? Any use for it? Should I put a blank CDR in it for protection?
Another concern is the CPU heat sink. It's a stock Intel heat sink that came with a P4 3.0GHz. It's round, made of aluminum, and has an 80mm (or thereabouts) fan built into it. And it has widely spaced push-pin things to hold it to the mobo. Is this going to potentially be any kind of issue? It doesn't appear to have a lot of mass. I'm concerned about a significant impact causing it to come loose and damage other parts of the mobo. I don't remember if I had to put any goo or other heat conductor between the CPU and the heat sink. I doubt that packing anything around it would help a lot unless it was a snugger fit than I can manufacture. Suggestions? Anyone done this before? -- Timothy Normand Miller http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~millerti Open Graphics Project _______________________________________________ Open-graphics mailing list [email protected] http://lists.duskglow.com/mailman/listinfo/open-graphics List service provided by Duskglow Consulting, LLC (www.duskglow.com)
