Hello Tim,
I view "dependable" video being the "holy grail" for Linux which is why
I want to volunteer my services to your project. I am most interested in
helping/providing working Linux drivers. However, I do have a fairly
diverse background and believe I can help in other areas if time permits.
Before diving in I do have a couple questions. Please be patient as I
have tried to digest as much of the posted material to obtain answers
but feel the need to obtain fairly concrete answers to those listed below.
If my reading is correct you are currently using the Xilinx & Lattice
FPGAs. You state the free tools you must use are only for Windows
(emulated with WINE) with the Linux tools being expensive. Is the goal
(or one of) of this project to create your own FPGA and supporting tools
for use in *nix that come free of charge with the purchase of your FPGA?
Do you intend to create/enable a graphics chipset that mainboard
manufacturers can integrate on their boards?
What sort of weekly time commitment are you hoping for?
That's enough Q&A to start with, please advise what steps are next.
Thanks,
Kevin
