Are they reprogrammable then? It then resembles the Rabbit modules, they had some processor with Ethernet too.
I have some Rabbit modules, but they are... well... they require Windows for the IDE and the instruction set and the peripherals are ... awkward ? The only benefit is that it's quite easy to get something mostly working quickly, when a project with proper funding requires an immediate result. If you're not too picky. And have time to read all the fine prints.
I prefer the ENC28J60 : smaller, cheaper, few pins. I think that Beck makes ethernet-enable modules too. I think I have some ASIX chips as well, parallel interface and 10/100Mbps, competitive with SMSC's controllers. Now if Tim's friend has a better idea of what is needed and what is available, it would be good. A softcore CPU is needed in all cases to handle the data, TCP/IP offloading offered by some products is not enough. yg -- http://ygdes.com / http://yasep.org _______________________________________________ Open-graphics mailing list [email protected] http://lists.duskglow.com/mailman/listinfo/open-graphics List service provided by Duskglow Consulting, LLC (www.duskglow.com)
