IIRC SmartFusion can reprogram logic from logic, but not from the
Cortex-M3.

Oh I wouldn't say that. For some applications that is not a very long
time, if reconfiguration can be done reliably. For others, it's
useless of course.

I'm also an Actel fan. I have some Altera and Xilinx parts too, for
some things, but I appreciate the niche that Actel fills. Haven't
used Lattice, but their free (really, both as in beer and speech)
softcore looks nice!
