Ok, so I've heard people's advice, and I've thought about this. Working on OGA2 within BU should have the following positive effects:
- More people (mostly students) contributing to it, because I can pay them or give them independent study credit - Higher probability of completion and broader success. - Higher probability of getting licensed - The potential to fabricate and sell chips, based on BU and/or federal funding - Higher total revenue from sales and licensing - Minimal hassle for me when it comes to copyright issues - Unlimited use of BU computing resources In my imagined reality where we control it 100%, I was already going to strongly recommend that a big chunk be "invested" in research at BU. Assuming that others agreed to this, this makes it a wash financially. -- Timothy Normand Miller, PhD Assistant Professor of Computer Science, Binghamton University http://www.cs.binghamton.edu/~millerti/<http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~millerti> Open Graphics Project
