Hi Folks,

Well, despite what the apache httpd web site says about great new security fixes and so on, if you're running Evergreen on Ubuntu Hardy, I do not recommend using apt/aptitude to update it. I'm stuck in a situation where I can either disable the EG stuff (and have the "It Works!" page--wow, cool!) or, depending upon the exact settings in the config files, choose from the following Apache HTTPD won't start at all options (actually, after the last rebuild of Evegreen 1.6.0.6, I may be down to just the first one):

o   Attempt to free invalid pointer (detected by glibc)
o   Segmentation fault during startup
o   Cannot bind to 0.0.0.0:80

The whole mess seems to be related to the OpenSSL stuff (as nearly as I can tell--if I take that out of the config, it complains about other stuff). So, at this point, short of starting over reinstalling Ubuntu, I'm going to try getting the source for OpenSSL and for Apache HTTPD and see if building them from the latest and greatest makes anything happier (and then remaking/installing Evergreen also).

John
