IT Security Specialist (must be local)

Max Rate: $55/hr on c2c

The IT Security Specialist will assist with the day-to-day security
responsibilities of setting up, reviewing, managing and enforcing the IT
security policies and procedures. Will work actively with other Senior
Staff in IT Security, Server administration, Helpdesk and Networking teams
and ensure that the policies are implemented correctly.
The day-to-day roles and responsibilities will include and not be limited
to the following:
- Assist with the due-diligence process for external and third-parties
and providing the information as and when required by the clients
- Reviewing the requests from users pertaining to security and providing
the recommendations to Management
- Review the information and logs from various security systems on a
day-to-day basis, like the firewalls, IPS/IDS device, SIEM, End-Point
security and database logs
- Assist with the proof-of-concepts and testing of new security software
and tools being considered by the organization
- Assist with the day-to-day audit of the servers and end-user systems
to identify non-compliance and risks and working with the IT team in
remediating the findings
- Document the various IT security procedures, standards and guidelines
and keeping various security documents current and up-to-date
- Will require some on call support that can be done from home.
- Will also be expected to contribute in more strategic and critical
areas:
- End-point protection
- Web Proxy (Web Sense)
- IT Security Audit (internal and external)
- Process Documentation
- Change Management
Requirements:
- *Minimum 10 years' experience with IT security in a similar role*
- Bachelor in Information Systems/Information technology
- Well-experienced in all aspects of security - network, security,
applications, audit, etc.
- Security certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft, and Cisco
- Experienced with the following technologies: Windows 2008/2003,
Windows 7, Windows XP, Cisco WatchGuard other firewall systems, SIEM and
centralized log management with Tripwire/RSA, SQL Server and other database
technologies, ASP, .NET security
- Protection technologies like Symantec End-Point protection, SSL VPN
technologies like Juniper, Web filtering technologies like WebSense /
Blue-Coat
- CISSP and ISC2 certifications are not a requirement for this role.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
