It's been a long time since I played with vmblock (and Dmitry, who has worked 
with it recently, is OOTO this week), so I can't help much. But just to make 
sure, is the vmblock filesystem mounted anywhere? (i.e., do you see something 
like "none on /proc/fs/vmblock/mountPoint type vmblock (rw)" on the output of 
mount?)

I think someone was saying here previously that vmware-user doesn't mount 
vmblock automatically, so if the init scripts are not doing it, that might be 
the problem.

I've asked the developer who works on DnD to take a look at the status of DnD 
in 
open-vm-tools when he has a chance, but we've been sort of busy working on 
upcoming internal milestones, so I think that's currently in his backburner.
