Have you checked the following document?
http://www.vmware.com/pdf/osp_install_guide.pdf

It has a section on how to update the kernel modules. If your problem is with
the modules not compiling, then you'd have to patch it yourself or wait for the
next update (don't know how often they do that for OSPs...).

I'm pretty sure the Ubuntu folks won't be able to help you there. This is most
probably a problem in our code that we'll have to fix... since we're still in
the development cycle for the next release, no idea when QA will get to that. 
:-)

(Since I'm actually the person who plays in that part of the code, I might take
a look at it myself when I find some time.)
