I have not tried the rpms for RHEL... .but I would love too.. any

I can't answer your linux question but I can point out that 1.4.0-rc8
supercedes 1.3.87 by nine releases. You should be using 1.4.0-
rc8 and
not 1.3.87 for any work you are currently doing.
