I'm hoping somebody can give me some help. Today, I got struck again by the IP ACL permission denied problem (which I think is being worked on), so I restarted all my openafs-servers and my openafs-client that had the problem.
When the server restarted, I had even more problems, which I finally worked out that the readonly copy of root.cell was corrupt and needed to be salvaged. (The readwrite copy was fine). Unable to savalage it (I guess you cant salvage read-only replicas), I deleted it, intending to recreate it. Somehow, that rendered the readwrite copy bad and it now needs salvaging. Every attempt to salvage it results in success, however, every attempt to mount it, results in the following error message in FileLog: Thu Jul 27 14:26:43 2006 VAttachVolume: Error reading namei vol header /vicepa//V0536870915.vol; error=101 Thu Jul 27 14:26:43 2006 VAttachVolume: Error attaching volume /vicepa//V0536870915.vol; volume needs salvage; error=101 (The salvage log shows the following: 07/27/2006 14:16:29 STARTING AFS SALVAGER 2.4 (/usr/afs/bin/salvager /vicepa 536870915 -tmpdir /tmp/afs) 07/27/2006 14:16:29 Found 0 link count file /vicepa/AFSIDat/1/1+++U/+/+/20+++s91. ... I'm running OpenAFS 1.4.1 on RHEL4.
