Err, yes.  If one understands the build system (i.e. automake, autoconf,
libtool), then you are correct.  Despite many attempts, it remains a
largely-undocumented mystery to me.

I just wanted to bring the struct inode changes to others attention, since
I saw no discussion on the list.
