In fact, you should be using 'vos delentry' and 'vos zap'
VERY rarely as well.
Used properly, vos addsite, vos release, and vos remove do
everything you will want 95% of the time... and they do the
right thing with the VLDB. Instead, you are using "emergency"
commands on a regular basis which subvert either the disk
image or the VLDB consistency. You're going to get yourself
in a real mess of a VLDB in time this way.
it's a good idea to make some practice volumes and run through
"emergency" scenarios with the volumes, so that you can use the
appropriate commands in a non-pressure situation, and learn what they
do. not that there's anything wrong with learning in a real emergency...8-)
other ones that you really want to understand before using in a "real"
situation: vos syncserv and vos syncvldb. once you understand these
commands, it's obvious how to use them. so...beginners, go ahead and
practice, practice, practice.
