This is a dangerous approach. Linux is by far the most prevalent of the free-Unixen. If OpenAFS was to stop supporting Linux, sites wouldn't use that as a reason to migrate away from Linux, they'd use it as a reason to pick a different file system.

Simon, don't take my words out of context.  The rest of the statement was:

  "I would be quite happy if David had the time and
  resources to develop a fully functional GPL_ONLY
  client for the Linux community.   I would feel I
  have accomplished my mission as an OpenAFS Elder
  if Red Hat thought that support of AFS was important
  enough to devote resources to. "

Please don't pick fights when no argument exists.
