If IBM/Sun had not patented it, cache management using the ARC algorithms would probably be a great improvement for that, and other cases. (as to whether open source projects could gain access to the patented algorithms is left as an exercise to the reader.) http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PG01&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=%2220040098541%22.PGNR.&OS=DN/20040098541&RS=DN/20040098541 http://www.almaden.ibm.com/StorageSystems/projects/arc/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptive_Replacement_Cache _______________________________________________ OpenAFS-info mailing list [email protected] https://lists.openafs.org/mailman/listinfo/openafs-info
