The version description quoted above is the 'git describe' output, which
takes as a base the name of the closest annotated tag in the commit's
history.  OpenAFS stopped producing such tags on the master branch when
openafs-stable-1_6_x was branched, so all subsequent versions of master
will have a git-describe version of this form.  The particular commit in
question is the head of the master branch from just a week or two ago.
