The performance of OpenAFS returning to the use of afs_GenericStoreProc is equivalent to that of the 1.4.x release series. Slide 19 of http://conferences.inf.ed.ac.uk/eakc2012/slides/AFS_Performance.pdf will show you the difference in the performance curve. The blue line will be equivalent to the performance of OpenAFS 1.6.17 on the Linux 4.3 kernel and the green line will be the performance of the upcoming 1.6.18 on the Linux 4.4 and later kernels. The AuriStorFS clients for Linux 4.4 through 4.6.rc1 do not suffer this performance degradation. Jeffrey Altman AuriStor, Inc.
