There's no either/or with Git. The whole point of Git is that it's a distributed version control system. We can mirror to both SourceForge and GitHub (and anywhere else). Avogadro is mirrored to the SF git repository this way. We can (and should) continue to use the SourceForge tracker, downloads, etc. I'm just thinking that we can have GitHub's version control features -- it's much easier to track things like Tim's experimental branches, patch contributions, etc. And GitHub offers transparent use of SVN from a GitHub repository. SourceForge is either SVN or Git, but not both at the moment. > Would it be really be feasible for some developers to access the source > code by SVN and some by git? I think you might like Git if you tried it for a while. But the answer to your question is "yes, if we're using GitHub." https://github.com/blog/1178-collaborating-on-github-with-subversion Hope that helps, -Geoff ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
