Running MySQL from a single folder is very easy and trivial to do. Sometimes the likes of rpm/yum make installation look far more complicated than it really is.
Maybe we do need to bundle up a complete "LAMB" installation so people can simply "drop and go". personally, i have been using the openbd+jetty to do that for the last few projects i have had and its been a wee god send to do it so easily. But to add in MySQL to that mix, wouldn't be a big issue. Just means we have to ship a number of versions dependent on the Operating System, which i am guessing is probably going to be Windows in this particular case.
