Running MySQL from a single folder is very easy and trivial to do. 
Sometimes the likes of rpm/yum make installation look far more 
complicated than it really is.

Maybe we do need to bundle up a complete "LAMB" installation so people 
can simply "drop and go".

personally, i have been using the openbd+jetty to do that for the last 
few projects i have had and its been a wee god send to do it so easily. 
  But to add in MySQL to that mix, wouldn't be a big issue.   Just means 
we have to ship a number of versions dependent on the Operating System, 
which i am guessing is probably going to be Windows in this particular case.
