This will likely be possible on a future revision. The actual functionality of the admin console is all in CFCs (that's the Admin API chunk of the code), but in the interest of getting things complete enough for a 1.0 release I decided not to go down the path of things like remote access to the CFC methods and/or a simple HTTP API similar to the example you outline.
Keep the suggestions coming! I'll stick this one in the issue tracker on the google code site.
