Just to throw another opinion into the mix, in my opinion it isn't OpenBD's job (nor should it be) to handle URL rewriting. That's the job of the web server and/or add-ons to the web server. Since OpenBD is not a web server it seems like the wrong place to put this functionality.
Many of the CFML frameworks (Mach-II being one of these) do allow for limited URL rewriting (it's really "SES URLs" more than full rewriting), so that could be an option, or you could roll your own at the application level.
