The "404" you're getting: Is it the plain black and white version from
the Apache server, or is it the colored bar version from Tomcat?
Before you answer that, insure that your new directory has sufficient
permissions for your server. Just a hunch.
FYI My version (from /etc/apache2/sites-available/default) looks similar
to this:
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName www.domain.com
ProxyPass / http://96.000.152.44:8400/openbd/manageit/
ProxyPassreverse / http://96.000.152.44:8400/openbd/manageit/
HostnameLookups Off
</VirtualHost>
Not much difference, really.
Also, I had an issue with a "Deny from all" restriction in
/etc/apache2/mods-available/proxy.conf
But it looks like the proxy part is working for you.
