I'm new to OpenBD....just kicking the tires so far....but I like what I see (except docs....I have to say they really suck...sorry...not trying to be harsh).
Welcome to OpenBD!Concerning the docs, saying "they really suck" doesn't help us make them better. I realize you get to the specifics of your complaint below so the following is more a general comment for others reading this thread.
When people find something lacking in the documentation it's VERY helpful if you tell us: 1. What "docs" you're referring to, meaning is it the wiki, the readme that comes with the download, something else?
2. What specifically you found lacking, i.e. is this a general comment (hard to find things, just not enough documentation overall, more sample code needed to illustrate features, etc.), or were you looking for something specific (e.g. cfajaxproxy) that just isn't documented at all?
We're working on this all the time, but as an open source project we do what we can when we can. (See below for how you can help!) Hearing specifics from people beyond "they really suck" helps us focus our efforts on what people need. Thanks in advance for helping us help you.
On to your specific question ...
In OpenBD (latest nightly build): The page displays with the link "Get Records".....when clicked it does nothing.
I was working on a demo for an earlier question someone had and ran into the same issue. It's being looked into now so we'll let you know when it's resolved.
I can't tell as the Wiki is so unclear.....shows CFAJAXYPROXY on the "unique" page (nothing behind it when clicked).....doesn't show it on the "supported" page.....doesn't show it on the "unsupported" page. To top it off, there clearly is a CFAJAXPROXY tag or my page would not render at all (as was the case when using the stable build).
When the issue with cfajaxproxy is resolved it should work/behave largely the same as in Adobe CF. This is a relatively new introduction to OpenBD, however, so there may wind up being slight differences, hence the link to an empty documentation page at this point.
I realize it's a bit confusing since there's a link to the page, which is normally reserved for tags that are either unique to OpenBD or have differences with Adobe CF, so you definitely hit on what I hope is the worst example of documentation on the wiki.
So ya see my point on the docs and their suckingness ;-)
Thanks for outlining the rationale behind your complaint.Another general comment--the wiki is publicly editable and this is one of the best ways people can help contribute to the project. So if you see something that clearly is out of date, create an account on the wiki and help us by correcting it.
Anyways...great effort to those that have contributed to OpenBD!!....and insight would be greatly appreciated ;-)
Welcome again to OpenBD--we'll let you know on cfajaxproxy as soon as it's sorted (as I said earlier, this is a relatively new feature to OpenBD), and thanks again for pointing out specifically what was wrong with the wiki documentation. I'll get it updated ASAP.
