Assuming your network setup is working on your new server, I would
suggest installing webmin first, if you are new to Linux boxes:
Command line notes from my last install:
sudo apt-get install perl libnet-ssleay-perl libauthen-pam-perl
libpam-runtime libio-pty-perl libmd5-perl
sudo apt-get install openssl
wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin_1.420_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i webmin_1.420_all.deb
Then try reaching your box http://[IP ADDRESS]:10000 from a browser.
