mmm you must be missing something indeed. Try running it manually:
java -javaagent:./lib/agent/appengine-agent.jar -Xmx128m -classpath .:* com.bluedragon.desktop.Desktop
looks like the .exe is not finding your JVM. I am going to email you off list Steve and have you try some things if you don't mind.

If I pop open a command prompt and run java -version I get the expected output, so that tells me Java is in my PATH. I've also verified that JAVA_HOME is set. I'm on Windows 7 x64.
