Wanted to add my own experiences with this closed thread for anyone

I used the 64-bit Windows installer for OpenBD 1.4 on Windows Server
2008 R2 Standard. Everything worked great. Set up a datasource to SQL
Server Express 2008 R2 using SQL authentication, and the connection
verified with no problem. When trying to use the datasource though, I
got the same error as above: "failed to verify remote server/socket".
Changed the password for the connection to '123456' just as a test
from the above thread's information, and still got the same error.
Even tried a brand new datasource after a restart with the same
result. Connection would verify in the Admin, but it wouldn't actually
work. The login attempt does not even show up in the SQL Server logs.

However, I uninstalled OpenBD 1.4 and installed version 1.3, and the
connection worked on the first try. No other changes to the computer
were made.
