Sure depends on your approach, I never like access=Remote to a direct query
against a DB for example, I like to wrap it i in a layer which for example
has defined data expectations so data can't sneak out by mistake.

But yes you're quite right access="remote" should definitely handle it and
this is clearly a bug with the . path stuff more of a passing comment really
