Yeah, I ran against the same problem a few days ago. In the end I
solved with by having a dedicated ajax.cfc in the same folder (which I
would need either way, as sadly the 'native' ajax functionality doesn't
allow linking to non-web accessible cfc's)

Now that one may be a bug. :-) That should work with the dot notation.
