That didn't help.  With this version of XAMPP, there is an 
\extra\httpd-ajp.conf file where I placed your proxy lines and commented 
these out:

#<Proxy *>
#Order deny,allow
#allow from all
#</Proxy>

If it helps any, I do have FW/1 installed and I can run thru those 
examples.  (Man, this does make my head hurt :)  )
