My guess here is it's probably a pretty even split between Linux and Windows. As for upgrade frequency that's probably a mixed bag too--I have apps that once they went into production on even OpenBD 1.2 if there's no reason to touch them I don't, but we do whole enchilada deployments on Tomcat, meaning app and OpenBD are a single unit that's version controlled, so we tend to upgrade OpenBD as part of an app only when we're doing new development on the application.
