Ah interesting--very curious to hear what you find! As I said I'll be
implementing elasticsearch with CouchDB probably next month so this is good
timing on all this.

That very well could be. Just interesting that when you call elasticsearch
from curl you get a json string back but maybe there's some piece in the
mix there I'm missing.
