I've been using ColdFusion since 2003 and have been a fan ever since. However in recent years my enthusiasm for it seems to be going nowhere as other people don't recognize it (or even heard of it) hence the job listings are few for CF developers. Adobe don't really seem that bothered about promoting ColdFusion or encouraging developers to take on the language.
Given that all my development is done in a Windows environment, I think I am finally going to jump over to ASP.NET. Its free and I get access to the latest features without having to worry about paying out extraordinary amounts for the software and it seems that Adobe couldn't give two cents about the situation. The learning curve is the worst but better than paying $9000 or whatever for the same thing from Adobe.
