Norm, i think you are lacking some basic linux skills to make this work - not sure why you are making it hard on yourself and not just gone to Rackspace (or Amazon) and just buy a base image and get it up and going. It literally takes me the time it takes to untar the OpenBDJam to be running when i do it that way. There is no complications.

1/5 million documents? What do mean documents? Actual document files (pdf/doc?) if so, then why host them on a site like that and not put them on say AmazonS3 or RackSpace CloudFiles or even Microsoft Azure?

Not sure ... but I am sensing you are maybe making things harder for yourself than they need to be. You haven't given us any clue as to what it is you are doing, so we can only help on a small scale. I trust you have all this working on your desktop, and not developing straight on CentOS? If so, then you may be setting yourself up for even more frustration.

At any rate, i hope you get to where you need to go.

I could not get the openbdjam to run, so I tried the jetty. It runs.
I'm beginning to port some apps over.
I guess I'm too green at this, wouldn't think it would take weeks to make it work.

I'll end up with 7 virtual hosts and about 500,000 documents ported over. Since there is not much activity on the email group, it's going to take a lot of trial and error to know if it will meet my requirements. If I didn't have trouble with the original CF install about 6 years ago, I'd give this up in a heartbeat. But since my knowledge is much more on the programming side, I just muddle through these setups. Once they're done, generally, they're done. I HOPE.
