This is how it should be. The ability to pick and choose the right tool for the job at hand.

OpenBD is a nice package that's easy to customize, bundle and deploy.
But honestly, it probably does have some more idiosyncrasies - and seems
a bit more finicky in some areas - than the other engines. This results
in some more noise and frustration, but I'm not sure they all get
hostile. They probably just go over to Railo.

It's nice for me to have more than one tool in the box. When the client
wants ACF, I'm all for it. When I need a fast web standalone to deploy
as a WAR, I'll go with OpenBD. When I need a multiple-app platform with
Mura or RO support (or an ACF changeover), I opt for Railo.
