Apparently Java is not running on it

[root@QCS-dev openbdjam]# netstat -ntlp | grep java

[root@QCS-dev openbdjam]#

So you're not really updating, that's a fresh install... I tried it just now
and it worked fine.

You've got to troubleshoot it, few things to try below:

1. Use netstat to check if java is running and listening on port 8080:

# netstat -ntlp | grep java
tcp        0      0 :::8080                     :::*
LISTEN 16711/java

2. Check if the java process running is the one you're expecting:

# ps axo pid,etime,cmd | grep java
16711 07:36 /opt/openbdjam/jdk/bin/java -Djetty.home=/opt/openbdjam/jetty
-Djava.io.tmpdir=/tmp -jar /opt/openbdjam/jetty/start.jar
--pre=etc/jetty-logging.xml

3. The logs you're looking for are under:

# ls /opt/openbdjam/jetty/logs/
2015_06_19.stderrout.log

Well if you're using a very old version of jam you will be running on JDK 1.6 ,
new jars are compiled with JDK 1.8 so it won't work, but It should not prevent
Jetty of starting though.

How did you update it?
