Well I don't think this was generally a 'good plan'
anyway. Chances are most of the data is written at
the front of the partition - so reducing by 2G from 6
to 4 *might* *just* work ... but I don't think you can
count on that. Even if you hadn't then continued to
reduce the partition below it's used space, you may
well have lost files or parts of files at the first
reduction anyway.

If you want to be sure you actually have a usable
installation left then you will need to re-install.
