Also I include patches to OpenSSL.pm and X509.pm, many of the changes are to stop the complaints when running with -w, but in OpenSSL I stripped off
The patches are ok. I start the integration together with SMIME integration.
Additional notes:
TODO: - needed for performance: a way to serialize X509 objects to be saved in a database and retrieved without intervention of openssl. Do you already have something in this direction?
I finished a first version OpenCA::OpenSSL::Fast and start including it into OpenCA::OpenSSL. This will speedup the parsing. So perhaps you have not to serialize X509 objects.

There is one additional TODO. Can you add the flag "-engine $params{ENGINE}"?
