I would prefer in this case an escaped or otherwise protected "_"
character. Limitations always cause problems in the future.

If we allow the renewal of a batch certificate then we have this
situation. A tar archive sounds like a good idea because such an archive
would allow the packaging of all data into one file (e.g. p12, cert pure,
encrypted PIN mail, info mail ...). This would ease the integration into
other management systems perhaps too.
