a general "status line would be useful for this, I think. This could be added to the bottom of the page, for example. Have a look at libSendReply(), but this is just a wild guess. However, we handle the issue differently here: the HSM is usually logged in. As this is the desired status, the HSM state is asynchonously monitored by a monitoring script. If the CA key is no longer accessible a script raises an alert via the usual monitoring to be processed by operating staff.
