I would recommend this too. You can add a third frame (only openca_0_9_2) to the bottom of the page. This frame is a link to the indicator command. I think it is possible via javascript or HTML to reload the page after a configured time.
The CVS HEAD has no working HTML front end today but this frontend should be frame free. If this frontend is really frame free then we can update such an indicator every time a page is send.
BTW Martin does your prototype work - only to see how it works.
