If you use basic request then the private key is generated on the server. Therefore you have to download a PKCS#12-file from the RA or CA. We don't allow this from the public-interface to avoid brute-force-attacks. The passphrase to download the PKCS#12-file is the PIN which you entered during the requestgeneration.

The IE returns an installation error because the private key is not present in the IE.

"Error generating request"
I think you use an "old" version of OpenCA (before pre-0.9.1RC7) :) The problem is that Microsoft must issue a securitypatch which change the ClassID of an Active-X-Control. This results in some problems because we must support two different objectclasses (for patched browsers and for non-patched brwosers). This results in several problems.
