I read to fast. You don't need OpenSSL::X509.
Michael, can you give more info about installing modules: only OpenCA:: modules must not to be installed from CPAN, or using CPAN is wrong move at all?
If you install a recent version from a non-OpenCA module via CPAN then this should work. OpenCA modules should be installed directly from the distribution. OpenCA 0.9.2 has a switch --disable-external-modules which prevents external modules from installation. The switch was created for package maintainers but you can use it of course by yourself.
