Hi, I was mucking around with this stuff last week, and the first thing
to do is (using mozilla) ensure that you have your CA cerificate
installed, and it MUST be set to "this certificate can identify mail
users".

You commented out the "sign is needed to proceed line" error, which
prevents error messages being passed to openca, so most likely the error
message, something like "error:internalError" is being passed to openca,
and openca is trying to treat it like a signed message, and failing.

Trust me, just tick the box about email users on your CA cert that
signed your cert.  I assume you aren't using x509 style logins,
otherwise you would have the same message on logging in..?

On this, I think there are a few too many javascript alert boxes in
signForm.js.  I'm going to take them all out except for one meaningful
error message.
