thanks for your answer. I still don't really get the relation between all 
the components. I got the OpenCA infrastructure running to generate and sign
Certificates. As far I know, for SmartCard authentication it has to be in
PKCS#15 format. 

First problem is: How may I create such a cert using the OpenCA Interfaces
(do I need additional plugins and/or templates? 

Second: Once I have a signed cert, how to put on the SmartCard? You said, you
have Windows CSP, that does it. Is such a CSP also available under Linux? 

I found an OpenCA-Module called openca-sctool-0.3.1.tar.gz. In my
understanding, this is a module using PC/SC in OpenCA. Am I right, that PC/SC
is something like a protocol for accessing SmartCards?
