No, you're right, the problem is with the low quality drivers people
are releasing. I work at a very well known company who have a lot of
experience with smart cards, both creating cards & applications. I
now wince when I recommend people to use OCF, as we almost always find
bugs with drivers & I have to spend a desperate half day fixing the
drivers. You can only do this so many times before people stop using
something.

The OCF framework is excellent - I've never had any problem with it.
In fact, it is so good that creating a card terminal should be very
simple, and yet well known manufacturers are releasing sub standard
software they should be ashamed of. In many cases, very simple tests
have highlighted the bugs - do people test these drivers ?

I've found the PC/SC <-> OCF bridge the best bet - not a glowing
advert for Java. Also, this is of course only possible on Win32
platforms - so why bother with Java at all ? (You don't have to
convince me, but *I* have to convince my managers).

Come on people, we're supposed to be professionals, not teenage
hackers bodging sub standard code in our bedrooms.
