Hey.. If you search the archives for this group, you'll see that I try to be
helpful to people.

I was trying to start with the root cause of your problem. I was pointing
out that your first two statements are incorrent in a manor (NT does support
filenames > 6 chars and the OC properties file doesn't have filenames in
it). Those are the two things that you spec out in your statement:
"...Can someone lead me in the right direction? Windows NT
4 does not except dir names longer that 6 chars so I
have modified the OC properties file to suit this
convention. Now I am faced w/ this error and I cannnot
figure out why it haunts me..."

Since the 2 things that you talked about were incorrect, I was assuming that
you were making assumptions that weren't true and thus, there might not be a
problem at all. It certainly sounded like you were doing this:
    Opencard.trace: \
        com.gemplu~1.termin~1.blah

Now, that would have been a problem!

I realize that my first response/question was phrased harshly, but the
statement was just plain false and it sounded like you were complaining
about something that wasn't true in the first place (which happens a lot
with people when they complain about Micros~1's products).

P.S. By the way, command.com is not 16 bit either unless you're in Win3.1
