I am looking at the GemXpresso Javacard.
I was surprised to find that the Gemplus development tools only
support OCF and Java for the host application, and not PC/SC and C.
What is involved in deploying such an application to the final user?
Two questions:
1 - Must the final user install OCF as a separate package, or can I
byte compile the whole application into one big releasable file.
2 - How dependent is OCF on a particular Java virtual machine? Would
the final user have to install a particular JRE (version and supplier)
as well?
Does anyone have experience supporting this, and how it compares to
deploying a self contained .exe file.
I ask because the Gemplus development kit is apparently very
sensitive. Not only does it require JDK 1.2.x and not JDK 1.3 or up,
but it requires the Gemplus JDK 1.2.?, according to their support
line. I already had a different JDK 1.2.2 installed, and their
development tools would not even install.
